This weeks podcast review is a little bit of a different one for me. It's the Art of Manliness Podcast by Brett McKay. Don't let the title fool you. Although this podcasts mission is to be a "one-stop resource for men to take actionable advice to be better friends, mentors, husbands, fathers, and citizens", there is really a ton of awesome information for anyone to challenge themselves to be a better human. I typically listen to this podcast when road tripping with my husband, Luke as it's one we both like. The best thing about listening to this podcast together is that we often pause the episode to reflect on something we've just heard and share our thoughts on the topic being discussed.
Each episode of the Art of Manliness sheds light on a different theme of self-improvement including, making the perfect burger, to how to speak to strangers, and discussing why it is so hard to admit you were wrong. You jump into these topics with McKay as he chats with an expert and dives into the intricacies of the topic. Throughout each episode McKay is asking his guest questions about how we, as the listener, can put the learning and theory presented into practice.
A great example of an episode that is for everyone is, Prepare Now to Have Your Best Year Ever. With the new year just around the corner it's right on topic. In this episode, guest Michael Hyatt, author of the book Your Best Year Ever jumps into the secret of making annual goals, sticking to them, reviewing them, and achieving them. After listening to this episode I decided to be more strategic about my own goals for 2022 and I better set myself up for success this year.
You can check out the Art of Manliness on all your typical podcast apps. If you are hungry for more content, and really want to start 2022 with a bang, check out McKay's website Art of Manliness for a ton of good articles and resources, including one on how to grow your hair out long (for guys). Maybe the next time you're on a road trip, you too can steam this podcast with the man (or woman) in your life.
